Bozo’s Fortune, an opera for primary schools adapted from Gioachino Forzano’s libretto for Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, entered the touring repertoire of Shoestring Opera in March, 2009. Produced by The Shoestring Opera. Directed by Molly Thom. Arrangements by Justin Hiscox.

Puccini’s short comic opera is about greedy relatives trying to overturn a will and the trickster who outwits them all. With broad humour and audacious impersonation, Bozo’s Fortune is a wickedly funny fable.. Greed is exposed, avarice is punished, and love is triumphant. It features one of the most popular of all Puccini arias ‘O mio babbino caro’ (O my beloved Daddy). Theatrical surprises abound as two singer/actors play eight different characters, many on stage at the same time.
